Rarely have I seen such
accusations of
stupidity from one who takes such
a
novel approach to
the enter key. One might think
that when complaining of censorship by a company
one might check first that the company were
involved
or even that censorship had occurred, for that
matter.
These Webradio stations you are referring to: are they something you can pick up on the Sirius equipment or are you referring simply to Internet stations on your PC?
Also, you don’t have to hit enter after each sentence on this board, the text wraps automatically.
Retvim, thankyou for the head’s up on the enter key,my bad and I apologize. I have been listening to several excellent webradio stations on the internet. These stations are excellent and provide fantastic programming pertaining to my likes, including, Psychedelic & British Invasion. If your interested, email me and I will give you their web address.
No problem Mr R. Don’t bother with the net radio addresses, I was just curious if the Sirius equipment somehow got internet radio stations. Thanks though.
Is this the unoffical Surius board? (I won’t post a link, to avoid board wars.)
The more active members of that site, if it is what I’m thinking of, are “fanboys.” You probably know the meaning of the word.
I’m a satisfied Sirius subscriber, but it does have its shortcomings. A fanboy won’t see them, or will put on blinders when they’re presented to him/her, literally plugging their ears and yelling “lalalalala I can’t hear you.” Unofficial Web forums owned and operated by fanboys, whether it’s Sirius or XM, Dish Network or DirecTV, vBulletin or Invision Board, Mac OS X or Linux, are prone to the censorship you describe.
Not that you can use it in the car, but when you take your receiver back, here is an option.
We have this bad boy at work. Providing the Webradio station you listen to is an MP3 or M3U stream (Virgin and Live365 do this as well as many others), you can just hook it up to an 802.11 network or an Ethernet network and bingo you can listen to your Internet radio anywhere.
With the radio you get an account at www.streamium.com and you can enter your favorites and personal streams. It comes with software for the PC to M3U stream your own music as well, so you can broadcast your MP3s to it. It also has kind of clunky browser on the alphanumeric frontpanel which works so-so for the multitude of Live365 stations. All in all it is a great concept that I hope catches on; in practice I’m not too happy with the sound quality coming out of it nor with its inability to play RealPlayer or asx streams (obviously there are proprietary reasons). But we use it all of the time, and it is nice to have a selection of several thousand stations at any time, for the odd hankering for Telugu or polka music. Or Telugu Polka.
Mr Roboto, would you please just sell your Sirius receiver on Ebay or something, so that you would shut the fuck up about the services that they offer that you refuse to buy??? How much free time must you have to complain about businesses that you don’t patronize?
Christ, next it’s going to be complaints that he can’t pay his monthly Sirius bill in nickels, even though he first has to buy a docking station and get a subscription before he actually listens to the broadcasts, which doesn’t have enough 60’s shit on them, anyway.
Feel free to send your reciever to me, Mr. Roboto!
The hubby and I decided we are definitely subscribing to Sirius/buying Sirius equipment as soon as we get the bills paid for the month.
We’ve been listening to the free 3 day trial they offer over the 'Net, and we are hooked! I love the Big 80’s, Hair Nation and Swing Street (both the hubby and I adore swing music, I just torture him with the other 2 channels), and he’s absolutely nuts over Soul Revue, Bluegrass, and SIRIUS Blues.
Elmwood: Yes, it is a “Fanboy” Messageboard. For whatever reason, my topic was moved to another catagory with no notation that it had been moved. It appeared to have been deleted and after I reposted the topic, another member alerted me that the original posting had been moved. That would never happen here at the SDMB.
Edwino: Thankyou for the Hi-Tec info!
Ravenman: What’s your problem? it’s just the beginning of a new year and your already headed for anger management. You must be B.J. buddies with Manhattan and CarnalK.
