I only saw part of tonight’s episode. Did they happen to have a note at the end thanking Daniel Keyes?
It’s nice to know that near-future science fiction on tv has advanced to the subject matter of 1960’s and 1970’s written science fiction.

I missed the first 20 minutes of tonight’s ep and was pretty confused about the guy suing the chick with a dick. I pretty much felt he had a case … but I don’t know what his problem was with too much testosterone. Is estrogen currently considered an appropriate treatment for that? Is having too much testosterone even considered a problem for men in the present, that is, by medical doctors? Or is this a take on the feminist term “testosterone poisoning?”
I found the “Flowers for Algernon” retread a complete loss – talk about predictable. I don’t know why they bothered.
I like the IDEA of this show, I’m starting to wonder about the execution.
In tonight’s episode, a man was suing a woman for emotional distress after sleeping with her and later seeing that she has a penis. Turns out in 2030, women can have a lab-grown penis attached in an easy plastic surgery procedure. This woman had it attached purely for decorative purposes, she “didn’t have enough money to have it hooked up.” I have no idea why they would want to do this, but they showed a commerical for it, and one woman said, “now I can walk in to a meeting with all these men and know I’m packing!” It was ridiculous! The case was dismissed after it was learned the man was taking estrogen as a treatment for an anger problem, and a side effect was “permanent PMS.”
The other case was a mentally retarded man who participated in a clinical trial of a brain implant that could reverse the mental retardation and make the person smart. Well, years later it would found out the device was defective, and he would need it removed or else he would die. But he knew he would go back to being mentally retarded, so he didn’t want it removed. So his wife brought him to court to have him declared incompetent force him to have it removed.
Overall I thought the scenarious were pretty lame!
As was the side story of the lawyer who got jealous of his coworker when he got the identical virtual assistant because he was in love with her…really silly!!
I really don’t want to watch this show again, but there’s nothing else on at 9 on Tuesdays!
You’re joking right? Does this mean you hate 24?
I thought the best line to tonight’s ep was right after the penis ad (and that logo - imagine two capital P’s back to back. Now lengthen the vertical stroke. Yeah. Commercials don’t get any subtler in 2030, I guess.)
Young Lawyer 1: That’s… eh.
Young Lawyer 2: Is this legal?
Grizzled Old Lawyer: Somebody should be suin’ somebody!
As a fan of The Practice, I get a kick out of the character who looks like she could be the “If They Mated” daughter of Steve Harris and Camryn Manheim.
Oddly enough, on the closed captioning, it said, “Christina Aguilara” (or however it’s spelled). I can only figure that was a joke.
Of course it’s a joke and a pretty good one. It’s a hopeful sign. Playing with the future in this way is a sign that someone intelligent is on the writing staff. But I don’t think they’re the head writer. I’m betting average intelligence at best in that slot.
That reminds me of the time I was in the gym watching a baseball game while doing cardio. The sound is turned off on the TVs in the cardio room, but sometimes the closed captioning is turned on. During this particular game, the announcers were talking about how a certain pitcher was 22 years of age, but the closed captioning rendered it as “22 years of anal.”
That’s a lot of anal.
I used to love 24, but since I missed the first few episodes at the beginning, I couldn’t get into it this season
So I started watching The Guardian in that time slot, which is now occupied by Century City.
So that brings up an important question: what happened to The Guardian? I loved that show! Is it over?
Also, I predict Century City won’t last through one season…
Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!

Thanks Telemark! I don’t think I will miss it much. It was just way too cheesy!
Also, the story said: "CBS will fill the void from next week with “The Guardian,” which had held down the Tuesday 9 p.m. slot until it was benched to make room for “Century City.” " So that is good news. The Guardian is so much better than Century City. I can’t believe they were going to get rid of The Guardian!! I hope they’re not just going to show reruns, though.
Shoot, I thought Century City had some promise. I woulda given them some more time to develop, but then, I’m not a network exec … and by that I mean, I have a forebrain.
So the lesson we learn from this is “Be different but not too different except not so much so.”
Yep, sounds like television to me.
