Certificate of Warranty...Yes or No Or?

Whenever I buy an appliance or camera or whatnot, there is a Certificate of Warranty generally included with the product requesting Dealers’ name and Date of Purchase.

Is it necessary to fill out these things including all the demographic material requested for the warranty to be effective? I have heard yes; wait as long as you want and put in a purchase date later than that which is true or forget about sending it in; “You are covered anyway”.

Which, in general is correct?

Of course I meant fill it out and mail it in.

I’ve heard you don’t have to. But I do, just in case. But I fill out the worse dempographics, someone who’s poverty line so they won’t bother putting me on a mailing list.

EVERYBODY goes on a mailing list. Now you are just going to get really crappy junk mail.

No, you don’t have to but the receipt is the most important thing you need for a guarantee. No receipt, no guarantee.
