If I wanted to change my SN, would that be possible? I’m not talking about overhauling my name, but let’s just say that I wanted to capitalize the “w” or change the 23 to 24. Could that be done? I know, a change is a change, whether it’s minor or written in arabic. Besides, if I change my SN, then everyone will want to. But still…is it possible?
Email TubaDiva at TubaDiva@aol.com and tell her your problem and she’ll fix you right up. Actually any administrator can help you.

Yeah… and the way I hear it, they’re usually very nice about it. But they’re even nicer if you send them chocolate along with the name-change (I forgot the chocolate, and look what my name turned out to be!! SPOOFE Bo Diddly?!? What the heck is that?!?)
Thanks all. I’ll probably get around to it in January as that’s when the 23 needs to become 24. Glad to know it can be done.
And SPOOFE, I guess it’s better than Spooje. Be thankful.
I’ve long been thinking about changing my screen name, even more since the somewhat recent addition of a member who shall remain nameless by the name of Opus1.
My main reason for not changing it was that I didn’t know if all of my past posts would be updated to reflect the new name. Would all of my previous posts be updated with my new user name? Would my new identity hold my current post count or would I be reset to single digits?
Opus, if you change your name, your post count stays with your new name. All the posts since the change to the vBB software will show your new name. All the threads you started, however, will show “Opus” as the thread starter in the thread lists. The name “Opus” will still show in the posts with the old UBB software.
Is that clear as mud?

Will I be required to go through some kind of heathen ritual where I have to march in my underwear down a double row of all SDMB posters with a post count above 1000 who will take turns hitting me with autographed copies of The Straight Dope while chanting “this [book] is the body of Cecil”?
‘cause if not then I’m not doin’ it.
Of course! That goes without saying.
Jim
Just a warning: I imagine if you start requesting to get the number changed every year, TubaDiva will be having a talk with Lynn’s cousing Vinnie.
SPOOFE and spooje are two different people, btw. I don’t think either one has had a name change.
Actually, I was originally called “Winky-Binky”, and I requested a name change, and I forgot the chocolate, so Tuba got mad and said (in her deep, booming voice), “Thou darest forgetteth mine chocolateth?!? Thou shalt be cursed with the stupidest name on the Straighteth Dopeth!”
Then she struck me with a bolt of lightning and transformed me into the twisted, misshapen creature that you see before you…
(Note: This story is fictional)
If that was a true story, it would’ve ended with you getting your name changed to Winky-Binky.
After reading the TMI thread, I think it’s safe to say you’d have come out twisted anyway.
