The stats:
WinXP Pro full version
40 G HDD, partitioned into 3 drives, currently named G, S, and C
The story:
Partition Magic FUBARed my computer (long story), somehow renaming my original C: drive to G:. I had to delete and recreate the partition, but it still named it G:, so I went about my business assuming it would be OK. But so many programs assume that your C drive is your system drive, and it’s causing unforseen annoying issues. WinZip wouldn’t work, and Norton Antivirus wouldn’t install until I renamed my D partition as C.
The question:
Does anyone know of a utility that will allow me to change the system drive designation? I can change every other drive through the computer management utility in the XP control panel. It just won’t let me do the one little thing that I need it to do.
I’ve looked at download.com, and my searches at support.microsoft.com and google haven’t turned anything up. But I’m notorious for being bad at coming up with keywords for searches.
Thanks!
