I have the proper replacement. After some messing around, one sliver and a small cut, I got the old blade off. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a good look at just how it went together, but I put the new blade on as best I could. My wiper blade features a “hook” type attachment. And here is my very ignorant question:
When I was trying to put the new blade on, I dropped it and knocked the small moving part out of the place it nested. I think I put it back correctly, but cannot be sure (I don’t have a second new blade to compare it to–I will get one from the store. Long story as to why I only have one). Here’s the deal: it went together easily and seems to work just fine (ie wipes water off the windshield appropriately), BUT it did not “lock” into place. A weirdly shaped hook-type thing (smaller than the hook on the wiper) and 2 itty bitty screws came with the blade. Do I need them? Will this blade stay put? Are these just adaptors for other vehicles? (I bought the replacement at Pep Boys).
I’d love to do this sort of thing myself and save money and time–am I on the right track? Thank you for helping my ignorance and I humbly endeavor to learn.
