Character actor Luke Askew has died

He was one of my favorite “Hey! It’s That Guy!” guys - I always found him secretly attractive in a repellent sort of way. Kinda like LQ Jones.

He’s probably best known as Boss Paul in Cool Hand Luke (the one without the mirrored sunglasses) and as the hitch-hiker in Easy Rider.

He was 80.

One of his last (if not his last) roles was a nice weird chilling one to go out on: the megalomaniacal casually homicidal polygamous cult leader Hollis Greene on BIG LOVE.
