Yes. But I think it should be noted in this thread, and brought up for discussion, that this character and many others in fiction, have “hatred of God” as a flaw or failing at the beginning of their story, and the “journey” that they’re led on ends with God back in their favor.
I’m much more interested in the characters like Mal Reynolds, who have hatred of God and/or irreligiosity as a basic trait that doesn’t need to change.
The Rapture, though not funny has a character who believes in and hates God.Mimi Rogers character in The Rapture ends by hating God and believing in him.
King David (of Biblical fame) in Joseph Heller’s God Knows believes in God but as an old and dying man he still hates him for killing his firstborn son with Bathsheba. (2 Samuel 12 )
Good book for many reasons, but David’s relationship with God is one of the more interesting parts; he comes to have a special understanding for his predecessor and enemy Saul since both were abandoned by God.
