I was going to make my end-of-year charitable contribution.
I gave a small ammount to disaster relief, through the Salvation Army.
Anybody got good advice on an efficient charity that helps orphans?
I’d recommend Mercy Corps or Doctors Without Borders. They help anyone, orphans included.
Foreign or domestic?
There is an organization called Ascent Russian Orphan Aid Foundation. Their staff is all volunteer and claim that 100% of funds go directly to their various projects. Orphans (especially diabled ones) there get shit on pretty bad and a lot of the work entails repair work on the facilities.
As a matter of full disclosure, I donate there myself and went to school with one of the organization’s principals.
