Charlie Brown / Peanuts

Darn it, try this link instead.

How did I let the thread get this long without me pimping my brother’s e-strip. Here is the beginning of a quite funny sequence where blinky the paperclip (a parody of MS’ animated help system) learns how he came to be.

Well, I really don’t get to read comics anymore, being a Grown-Up Lady who reads the Times and wouldn’t touch the NY Post with ice tongs.

But I used to love Brenda Starr (the fact that she lived in the Lovely Arms Apartments alone made me a fan). As of this writing, the creator, Dale Messick, is still alive–she’s gotta be pushin’ 100, bless her little cotton socks.

Of the morderns, I like Carol Lay’s Story Minute, which appears Tuesdays in Salon. Anyone else notice that The New Yorker’s Roz Chast hasn’t been funny in, like, five years? I think she only had so many good ideas in her . . .

Dale Messick is 93.

And it appears the gif of the comic strip I linked to is no longer active (the site only posts them for a few weeks). Hope you saw it before it disappeared Ike.
