Charlie Rangel retiring from U.S. House

New York congressman Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.), from the Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan, is retiring after serving the area since 1971. The 13th congressional district seat is becoming more Hispanic than black-dominated, due to the demographic trends of the district.

Always liked this guy. But hey, ya gotta retire at some point.

Your linked articles don’t say that a lean towards pro-Hispanic leadership would ruin anything. In fact, Harlem has always been a hotbed of progressive representation. So why shouldn’t local Hispanic people share in this? Harlem has shown that a voice will be heard, and sometimes you have to shout.

The district is becoming more Hispanic due to more Hispanics living there? That’s astonishing!

Jesus, it might become Spanish Harlem if we don’t watch out!

Obligatory Rangel video.
