Charlie Rose inteviews Syrian President Bashar Assad.

I’ll be watching this interview. I want to hear what Assad has to say.

They talked about this on the radio this morning. Supposedly, Assad denies that he used chemical weapons, and he makes the (true, AFAIK) claim that John Kerry claims to have evidence, but has not actually shown any.

PBS is running the full Assad interview as a special. 9pm Eastern, 8 Central

42 minutes from now.

Thanks for the head’s up. Watching it now.

Interesting interview. It shows what happens when you get an accidental leader. Assad would have been much better off as an eye doctor in London. I remember him talking about reforms when he took power. But that obviously didn’t happen.

I’m not sure Assad has that much operational control over his generals. At this point it’s the army that’s fighting for survival and the generals will do pretty much what ever is necessary to win. The buck still stops with the guy on top. Assad and the Syrian government are responsible for the army’s atrocities.
