Charlotte

The tragic poet and suicide Charlotte Mew. A sort of poor woman’s Virginia Woolf.

The city in NC, as I have family there.

Yeah, I suppose so. Commerce is less popular than beers and sausage. With a metro population of more than two million, and a city-proper population larger than Atlanta’s, Charlotte is probably most famous for its entrepreneur-friendly environment and its banking assets — second only to New York City. (It is headquarters for both Bank of America and Wachovia.) Its international airport is USAirway’s primary hub. It is the USA’s 20th largest city. Since you enjoy research, here is Wikipedia’s entry on the city.

The NBA team, Charlotte Hornets. (I don’t know if they still exist but I pictured the purple and turquoise.)

Amidst scandal, they moved to New Orleans, along with the teal and purple. Now they have the Charlotte Bobcats. I think they’re orange and something.

It could just mean that TV’s Mrs. Garrett was running quite a fever.

Oh my gosh. I knew that. I so knew that. I was even a quality assurance tester for the video game NBA LIVE 06 on XBox 360. What a major brain fart. Thanks for the memory refresher! :smack:

I thought of Charlotte’s Web, then Good Charlotte, then Charlotte as a woman’s name.

Another “me too” for the city of Charlotte (NC).

I live in Charlotte, so Charlotte, NC.

The AP’s list of cities that stand alone without state designations is here:

I’m at a loss as to why Memphis isn’t on the list; does anyone think of something other than Memphis, Tennessee when they hear the word “Memphis”?

Charlotte, North Carolina, where a conference I’m involved with was held for two years, and which I visited additionally for preparatory meetings.

I thought of Charlotte Bronte, but I think it is because I saw a thread earlier entitled Brontes or something very like and so it was already in my mind.

I suspect if it had not been, I would have probably thought of the spider.

Charlotte’s Web. There’s nothing else that I connect with that name.
