I was not an AOLer. But I think I first started reading the board right after it left AOL. I lurked for a while before posting. My original username would have been some variation on gremlin. I rejoined because I: 1. Couldn’t remember my username or password. 2. No longer had access to the e-mail I used to sign up. I vaguely remember asking a mod if it was okay for me to sign up again since I didn’t want to be accused of socking.
Good lord. Thinking about it, I’ve been on the SDMB in some fashion or another for around half of my life. And I ain’t no spring chicken.
The reason I asked about AOL is that this board only sprang into existence in 1999. If you were posting before that, you were either on the AOL SDMB or you were posting to alt.fans.cecil-adams on usenet.
Oh, I had no idea! I’m going to have to put some thought into this, as I’m not sure yet what part of my experience deserves emphasis. (For the record, “DKW” is a relic of my old arcade days…it was what I entered in the high score charts…and hadn’t any actual relevance in eternity.) But it does sound like it’s going to be fun going over the possibility. Much thanks!
I am a charter member. My join date shows as 2002, but I think that is wrong…I wa a member back in the 1990’s, but somehow that history was lost. I think it might have been when the software/format of the forum was changed.
