I completely neglected to update my membership until I realized I couldn’t post today.
So, I missed the discount and I’m no longer a charter member.
Not that I care much about either, but it’s just being a dumb ass. See, normally my wife does all the bill paying and staying on top of shit like this, but she isn’t dope-involved, so it was left to me, and that’s how these things go.
Nope, but they’ve been advertising the “better sign up soon” thing for the past couple weeks at the top of the forums and the main page. The last two days, they had a “last chance” message, and a noon deadline warning as of last night.
We put notices up all over, including the Straight Dope front page (you do read the columns, I hope) . . . and all soon-to-be-expired members who had checked off in their profile that they wished to receive email from management got sent “hey, you!” notes reminding people to resubscribe.
Since you are required to keep a valid email address in your profile, unless you specifically requested not to receive email from us, you should have received something. Please check your spam filter, too, though I’m sure now it’s not much use.
[sheepishly raising hand] I am posting here to find out if I am still a “Charter Member” or not. I remembered at right around noon today. Hey–it’s been a crazy week–
Hmm, I don’t think I’m a dumb ass. However I haven’t tried to post anything today, so I guess I could be. I renewed yesterday, so I should still have my “Charter Member” status(although plain old “Member” would be fine with me). Let’s see.
Raises hand and looks around sheepishly.
Yeah, at exactly 12:20 PM, I realized that I’d forgotten to renew too.
What can I say-it’s been one of those days all round.
Don’t really care about the ‘charter’ bit under my name 'tho.
I’m chalking it up to Mercury being in retrograde.
Actually, I have no earthly idea what Mercury is doing right now but I figure it sounds better than admitting I’m an idiot.)
Starts to raise hand, then realizes hand has a bandage on it, thus making the admission redundant. Wanders off, looking for something pointy to bump into
