I don’t seem to have it anymore, so I am assuming it was. If it was, then I take it it was deemed inappropriate for the board?
Link?
What?
How about a little more info, like, what it was about?
It was asking for help voting for his entry in a radio contest to win a Camcorder. Basically gave us the info on where to go to vote, and which entry was his.
It was in MPSIMS, but seems to be gone.
I saw that thread; I thought it was pretty clearly against the board’s self-promotion policy.
It basically said, “Click here and vote for my poem so I win the contest and win a free iPod!”
(It wasn’t a poem, I don’t think, and it wasn’t an iPod, but you get the idea.)
Yeah, that falls under the boards definition of “spam”.
I hadn’t even thought of it in the “self-promotion” light, but now that I do, it seems pretty likely that this is the reason.
Are “why can’t I promote things” threads the latest rage around here?
Is posting “are [random sort of threads] the latest rage around here” the latest rage around here?
Seriously, I was just wondering what rule it was in violation of. Like I said, the self-promotion rule hadn’t occured to me.

for the SDMB
Thanks, Cajun Man. Duly noted.
For what it’s worth, I completely understand the policy. I never thought twice about it, but after it was removed, I figured that was why.
So don’t cry for me Argentina.
