I’m heading up to New York in a couple of weeks and, for reasons that I can get into if people want, am planning to stay in a hotel rather than with friends. (Although I still want to see y’all…paging Maeglin.) Can anyone offer any websites or such on which I’m likely to find a decent hotel room for a not completely exorbitant rate somewhere in Manhattan?
I have used priceline before when going into NYC, and have gotten rooms twice at a hotel in the Seaport for 80 bucks a night.
Priceline also got me the New York Hilton at 90 bucks a night.
All three times, I used the “name your own price” option.
I highly recommend it.
So mysterious!
You can’t afford to stay at Chez Maeglin, anyway. Looking forward to seeing you!
My only fear is that if I stayed there, I could check out but I could never leave.
Thanks for the info, HSHP! Were those by any chance weekend rates? I’ll definitely give Priceline a shot.
Go here first, before you go to Priceline.
It tells you what sucessful bids other people have won, and how they did it. It’s a great site.
Yes, they were weekend rates.
I’m in the “start cheap and work your way up in increments of five dolalrs until you reach your max price- then expand search area and re-start from your lowest bid” school of pricelining.
