It looks like I may need to spend about four to five weeks this summer out at a client in Roseland, New Jersey. There is a bus that goes out to the client, but it runs infrequently and takes forever.
I’m thinking that it may be a lot easier to rent a car for a month or so and drive out. I also figure that the extra billable time I’ll be able to spend at the client rather than sitting on the bus will more than make up for the cost. However, I’ll have to pay for the car out of my own pocket, and if I keep it for that long, the charges will quickly add up.
So I’m interested in finding out how to locate the cheapest car rental option in the New York/Northern New Jersey area. I know that the rates can be significantly different between city locations and suburban or airport locations. I can get to a suburban or airport location fairly easily, so it would be worthwhile to go to one to save money.
Are there online services that compare rates at different companies and locations? Is there some other way to get the best rate? Would a daily, weekly or monthly rental make the most sense?
Also, does anyone in the area have experience with the different rental car sompanies or locations?
