Check Clearance Question

My good friend kindly gave me and my fiancee a check as out wedding gift. Very thoughful. However, he made the check out to “David Diana” our two first names. (The check seems to have been done online, all printed up and mailed in a nifty offical looking envelope. So I am guessing he entered some field as David Diana.)

The bank I took it to said they would accept the check with my signature on the back, but obviously Could not guarantee it would be accepted by the other bank. Any idea as to what is likely to happen in this case?

Unless the dudes who sent it dispute it, there very likely won’t be a problem.

If your bank takes it and credits your account, it’s very unlikely the issuing bank will not paid it. I assume that the check was endorsed correctly.

You dont actually need to sign a check unless you want money back. Just write “Deposit Only” on the back and they will accept it.
