Flap A is to hold the register open to the current page. (you insert the front cover of the register under the whole shebang of the top section). Flap B has confounded me for years.
In my cheapie vinyl checkbooks Flap B is wide enough to hold a credit card. I always thought it was a space to keep a store’s check cashing card or your account-holder’s card. Remember those?
you stick it before your next check so that when writing out the check, the pressure from the pen does not carry on through to the next duplicate check, which would mess up everything if you use your duplicates to balance your checkbook.
Typically, duplicate checkbooks do not have a register. The duplicate copy is all you need to balance your checkbook. Unless you have an ATM card, or make deposits or withdrawals from your account, or do anything else other than write checks …
SCSimmons, I’ve been getting duplicate checks for years, and they always come with a register. I don’t actually use it for writing down transactions, but keep it in my checkbook for the calendar.
shulmahn, I think you’re confusing flap B with the one underneath the checks, which is the one you use with duplicates. Flap B is on the top cover of the checkbook where the register goes.
My hubby and I have been looking at ours, and we’re thinking the same thing.
Yep. My bad. :smack: This should be a reminder to those of us who post to message boards while not in the upright and locked position to properly orient ourselves before posting.
