Did Iraq use any chemical weapons in the first gulf war?
I don’t have a cite for this, but I recall that there has been some reports that the Iraqi’s used chemical weapons in the first war on the Kuwaitis. The wind changed and the chemicals blew over the US troops, but very dispersed. Some are saying that this is what caused the Gulf War Ilnesses.
Does someone else have a cite for this? Or am I mistaken?
I was looking at pictures on www.strangecosmos.com yesterday and found a picture of what was called the dead civilians of a chemical attack by the Iraqi’s on Kuwaiti’s. However, I would not call that a reliable source.
I was in the ground assault with the Headquarters Element of the 2nd Marine Division, and we had 6 lanes cut through the berm and through the minefields through which we were moving into Kuwait. The two lanes on the far left (Red 1 and Red 2) were shut down after the first day, due to a REPORTED chemical mine, blister agent. While after action investigations were not so sure, to shut down 33% of your attack lanes is a big deal. I finally crossed into Kuwait about 24 hours late, due to this and the influx of surrendered Iraqis.
