You know, I could swear that it wasn’t that long ago that the Bush administration said it was completely inappropriate for a former admin to disparage a sitting President’s policy.
Your are totally wrong!
It was wrong, weak-willed, and treasonous for ANYONE to oppose in any way the policies of George Walker Bush, The Greatest President Ever. Just ask that liberal wimp Max Cleland.
As Andrew Sullivan puts it: “they hate us for our freedom, so let’s just get rid of the freedom part and then we’ll be safe.”
Here’s his blistering takedown of the former VP’s speech.
Given the number of outright lies Cheney told the good citizens of the USA over the course of eight of the worst years in living memory, I’m frankly astonished that he has an audience of any sort. Although I would turn out for his public stoning, if it took place no more than twenty-five yards from my front door.
you’ll never get another shot at that one.
I think it would be entertaining as all git-out to see Cheney stoned! Not what you meant, but still…
I’m not entirely sure I really heard Cheney say much of anything, he was too busy behind the big curtain.
He’s full of crap and he’s dangerous and he probably has contributed more to the next attack than Obama will be able to do to defeat it, but like everyone else, he’s got that 2nd amendment thingie goin’ for him.
He gets a big giant MEH from me.
Clearly, some of them have no shame to speak of.
And another thing: He can like it or lump it but he is an out of work vice-president of a largely discredited administration. Mr. Obama is, however, the President of the current administration. What Mr. Obama says COUNTS; what Dick Cheney says, not so much. To my mind, he is doing his best to foment revolution and as such, should be arrested, indicted, and tried for treason. And if he refuses to confess, torture the living hell out of the arrogant self righteous prick until he does confess.
I think we’re all a little worried that Cheney might exercise his 2nd amendment rights and shoot someone else in the face, but somehow I don’t think that’s what you meant.
A bit like seeing the guy who ran over your dog and set fire to your house pleading to the TV cameras that it was the right thing to do. Which is to say, somewhat disagreeable to watch.
Makes perfect sense to me. The less I have to look at the guy, the more I like him.
I’m have a bit of mixed feelings about something.
On the one hand, I think Obama should send a team to review Cheney/Scooter/etc files for shenanigans, cross-check those for FOIA requests, and fast-track them for release. That is, if Mr. ManSafe left anything behind.
On the other hand, this is pretty much the same type of Rovian dirty politics that turned me off of the last administration, and part of the abominable situation that lead to the conservative viewpoint being so overshadowed and so strongly associated with such bullCheney.
So while I strongly desire a “Shut-the-Cheney-up, Cheney” memo or two to be leaked, I’m not sure how I’d differentiate it from the Plame leak. Even CIA agent exposure aside, I’m crossing my fingers in hopes that the Obama administration has more honor than that – though adding yet another thorn to the consideration, is what if there is something untoward that would have been exposed/released anyway?
you’ll never get another shot at that one.
Rimshot
Well, if you feel that strongly about it Mr. Cheney, why don’t you just shut the fuck up? And then the terrorists won’t see any arguments or division, they’ll see unity and strength. So if you really thought this, you’d shut the fuck up and start supporting the fucking President.
Why isn’t Cheney supporting our troops? Why doesn’t he back the president? Why does he hate America? he is emboldening (is that a real word??) the terrorists.

Part of me is glad that Cheney is out there claiming responsibility for torture, continuing to associate Iraq with 9/11, and knowingly misrepresenting easily demonstrable facts. He is and should be the face of the current GOP.
What was the “old” sentiment? Support the president or get the fuck out??? My my how things change.
What possible conclusion could or should be drawn from that factoid considering that the same article points out the following:
[Bush’s numbers also rising]
…
People prefer him to STFU?
I thought his speech had a lot of valid points actually. I disagree with his overall philosophy but the groupthink exemplified by using his name as an epithet is rather corny.

Care to elaborate?
