Oh, so Mr. Cheney, you’re saying that Richard Clarke and the Clinton administration’s warnings were…received? And…ignored? And…but, wait…I thought “there was no way we could have known” 9/11 was going to happen. Did Cheney, Dick, just call George W. Bush a liar, and admit that they had warnings (others besides the “Bin Laden determined to strike in the US” memo) that were not taken seriously?

If this were a Democrat saying this, as if, say, Gore had taken his rightful place as president and 9/11 had happened on his watch, how much airplay do you all think this would get? But because it’s Cheney, it’s going to disappear into the ether, forgotten.
I hope someone’s keeping track of all the things he’s saying. I’d love to hear this stuff replayed in a courtroom setting.
Perhaps this would be a good time to point out that despite urgent desires on the part of terrorists around the world, no matter what we’ve done or haven’t done, to attack the American devil, there have been NO SUCCESSFUL ATTACKS WHATSOEVER on the American mainland since 9/11.

It happens to be a fact that while Tray Cheney was on teevee, no Americans died of Martian attacks. But I guess that’s not “good enough” for you and you need Americans to die before you’ll recognize his contributions.

More to the point, it’s questionable that any of the tactics that are being debated (torture and gitmo) have done anything to make us safer.
