Cheny subterfuge to put him out of the VP slot?

Remember back in 2000? Cheney headed the commission to pick the veep and he picked himself. I don’t think Duhbya’s comfort level will allow anyone but Cheney to pull his strings.

Aw, go fuck youself.

Thing is, both would have to be desperate, and I don’t think McCain is desperate at all. I don’t think he plans on running again. And instead of being GW’s VP, where he would have virtually no power and be at loggerheads with everyone, he could just as easily join the Kerry team as Sec of State or Defense: positions he wouldn’t have a chance at in the Republican establishment. He’s got oodles of other options beyond playing second banana to either Bush or Kerry.

Heh.

I’d have been more likely to say Charlie McCarthy, but then, I’ve been inclined in the past to select the more dignified image over the more accurate one.

Point taken. You’ve convinced me.

But on the other hand, Cheney definitely has the advantage over Edwards when the VP debates take place. I think Edwards will have the deer-in-the-headlights look when this takes place.

Are you kidding? The guy’s a trial lawyer.

Hee hee.

Cheney: I knew Jabba the Hutt. Jabba the Hutt was a friend of mine. Senator, you are no Jabba the Hutt.

If Chewbacca was a wookie, then you must acquit.

I just saw Cheney on the evening news… He says he and Bush have their “final decision” and that he’s on the ticket.

I don’t think there’s the slightest chance Cheney will be removed from the ticket as Veep. For one thing, it’s very late in the game to make a switch. Maybe they could cover it by citing health reasons, but even that would be quite a gamble. GWB has a lot of credibility invested in Cheney, and to give GWB credit, he’s loyal to his people in return. Cheney appeals to a lot of hard-righters, which the ticket needs. The last thing GWB wants is Veep who could possibly appear as an alternative president, i.e. McCain. Finally, Cheney acts as a lightning rod for GWD, while still staying firmly in his place.
Heaven knows I’ve been wrong plenty of times before and doubtless will again, but I’d be very suprised if the GOP ticket changes.
