Make that the 29th!
Most likely. I have an e-mail at work with information that I’ll post tomorrow.
If folks don’t want to see the play, though, as I said I can see it on my own and we can just meet for drinks on 5/24.
I’m just terrified that it will just be me and Zanshin all alone.
I’ll be in town to see DynoSaur that weekend, actually, so we’d love to tag along. We’re up for the play, Gundy, so let me know how to get you ticket money or whatever.
Terrified?
I’m flattered.
I’m bummed we won’t be able to join you. We’re spending the bulk of the day in the city with my sister (and when I say we, I mean me, UncleBeer, and my dawg Gizmo). We’d love to stop and meet up with you guys for a drink at the end of the evening after dinner, but unless the place has outdoor seating at the entry to the bar, it wouldn’t work. But if one of the places you are thinking of hanging out is like that, and you actually decide to hang out there, we’ll try to stop by, puppers in hand (not actually in hand - he’s 40 lbs), if the timing works out. If not, definitely the next time.
Okay, here’s what I have on the play. Should we just go about purchasing individually, or shall I hop down to the Chopin (I work only a few blocks away) to pick up tickets for the lot of us? There is a $3.50 service charge per ticket, so for five tickets (me, Krusty, Zanshin, bristlesage, Dyno) that’s $16.50 – at least three beers! What the hell?! I’m happy to pick up the tickets if that’s what y’all would like me to do.
Yes, Zanshin, terrified that I won’t be able to keep my hands out of your pants.

THE BOOK OF LIZ
“…laugh-out-loud funny…” ‹Broadway.com.
by David Sedaris & Amy Sedaris
directed by Birgitta Victorson
MAY 11 - JUNE 29 @ The Chopin Theatre
Sponsored by Chicago Public Radio
Sister Elizabeth Donderstock ventures out to discover the world, leaving behind her life in Clusterhaven, the strict religious community of the Squeamish. The outside world is one of surprises for Sister Donderstock, whose hilarious adventure sheds new light on the absurdities around us. Ultimately, our hero’s journey is one of self-discovery and of questioning the importance of being Squeamish.

porc, you big goof, we’ll find a place with outdoor seating near the entry if it means having y’all there.
Actually, right up the street from the Chopin is Life’s Too Short, this big weird wreck of a place on the river that I’m pretty sure has a patio that would work for your doggie purposes. I’ve never been, but they have a giant smiling hamburger and hot dog on top of the building, so it’s gotta be good. Anyway, I’ll do some scouting.
Life’s Too Short is one of the most horrifying places I’ve ever been in the city of Chicago; I may in fact deem it unfit for both human and canine visitation. Not that I have strong opinions about it or anything.
If there are tickets still available for the Sedarisssesss, I believe I’d be interested.
But…but…WXRT has their hot wings thing there! And…the hot dog and hamburger!
I trust your opinion. We shall go northwest, then? Perhaps into Wicker Park? How about the Pontiac? They have a patio in front.
(The hot dog and hamburger are actually pretty close to my heart. They were salvaged off the top of my favorite fast-food place directly across from my high school. Oh, I miss Mr. Weenie and Mr. Beefy. I was happy to see them given new life.)
I will definitely be interested in seeing the Sedarii also. Sign me up. Gunds, if wouldn’t mind picking up a ticket, I’d be forever in your debt. Call it in how you will.
Okay, Zanshin…if you’re in my debt, that means karaoke.
Anyone else want to be in my debt?
So many comments I could make…must…hold…tongue.
Snot.
I am soooo there if there’s karaoke! I am moving the 23rd, after all, so I don’t know if committing to theater tickets for the next day is a great idea, but keep me posted if there are other developments, OK? Especially if they involve karaoke.
I wasn’t being snotty, I was being sincere. I won’t be able to function until I know you don’t think I’m a snot, so
hurry up and respond.
(Okay, not really.)
I think I may come up for that - I’m a Sedaris fan, as Gundypants knows. WOO! Don’t worry, no manifest breastiny this time.
except your girlfriend, Random.
Tibby
You really should just pick a place convenient to the theater, and if it has outdoor seating, we’ll definitely try and meet up with you. I don’t want anyone to have to park twice or anything crappy like that. We’ll be having an early dinner w/sis so the timing might not work out anyway.
All right kids, here’s the deal. The Chopin doesn’t have a box office from which I can purchase tickets without paying the service charge. Stupid everything.
From what it looks like, it’s general admission, so we could each just purchase our own tickets from the link I posted earlier. Probably better in the end since SOME lameasses aren’t sure if they’re going (TIBBY), but I hate service charges.
Regarding karaoke, there are a few places that have it every night but the only one that comes to mind is Sidekicks on Montrose. It’s a lot like someone’s furnished basement rec room, and the patrons are stuck somewhere in 1986 from what I understand. But I ain’t a picky gal.
