I’m heading up to the suburbs for an exciting three weeks of familial obligation and holiday cheer.
Unfortunately, the familial obligations and holidays are at opposite ends of the three weeks, so, I require entertainment for the weeks inbetween. And, who better to provide entertainment than my favoritest group of people (at least my favoritest group of people who might read this message)?
So, I’m thinking that sometime around the 17th, if others are amenable, we could have a little get-together. As we have a standard place already, Lou-Lou’s works for me, unless anyone’s got a better idea (staying in the suburbs is just fine with me, as well). Date and place are, of course, negotiable.
What do people think about gathering at a restaurant to start rather than Lou Lou’s? Leona’s in Wicker Park seemed to work out pretty well when thinksnow was in town for a mini ChiDope a few months ago.
Just a thought - as usual, I’ll go along with whatever the group wants to do.
I think most people are aware I’m in Minneapolis, currently, so I’m out.
You might be hearing from VileRoommate at some point, though. If he’s willing to have guests, I’d surely donate my bed to the cause. Of course, that would all have to be cleared through him. And if anyone goes through my dirty laundry, you’re going on my short list. Not the good one, either.
To note on porc’s point, I think one of the reasons we’ve gone to Lou’s so often is that the managers/bartenders there know me, and usually give us a hefty discount (I think it was a third off the bill last time?). Without me, I don’t know if you could pull that off, although it’s always worth a shot. Also, I think it’s sorta become ChiDope Ground Zero because so many people usually crash at NymHouse. Again, this might not be such a selling point this time. Regardless, I just wanted to throw that out there as something to consider when y’all pull this thing together.

Someone just tell me where to go, and I’ll be there. I plan on coming in Friday night, and leaving Sunday sometime. Tell me where to meet up with someone, and where I can crash. Please?
Dyno already mentioned this, but I’m going to bring it up again. How about having this out in the NW burbs somewhere? Dynop is in the NW burbs, as is MissCreant, as am I. Perhaps the carless city dopers could get a ride with one of the car’ed city dopers.
Again, just a thought.
And Superdude, it’s only Monday - surely you don’t expect anything to be decided before Friday, do you?
Well, porc, I know it’s too much to ask, but I can hope. Anyone in Chicago that needs a ride to the suburbs, I’m willing to give 'em a lift. Any chance we can go to Kuni’s in Evanston this weekend? I’m dying for some of their sushi.
Well, I have an extra bedroom (there’s no furniture in it because it is currently serving as the dog’d room while I’m at work) two bathrooms and a ton o’floor space. I’m sure
I can accomodate a couple of floor sleepers.
