Chicago Mayoral Election 2015

Or not . . . :frowning:

Don’t forget Rahm wouldn’t be here if Obama didn’t kick him out of his cabinet.

Thanks a lot, Obama.

Which raises an interesting question (which I hope is not off topic): Why do so many good, card-carrying Obama fans feel it is okay to dislike Rahm? Isn’t that, you know, kinda racist? Just like any other criticism of Obama would be?

Not really. We’re not attacking Rahm for being Jewish, but for the content of his demonstrably deficient personal character.

The activists’ report is not reliable, since it’s uncorroborated. Even your salon link uses the words allegedly and reportedly.

It’s been my belief that Lewis has followed a deliberate plan to try to get elected in 2015. Picking a public fight with Rahm was part of the strategy. She reminds me of Ted Cruz, it doesn’t matter what the disagreement is about, the only thing that matters is getting her face on TV. Her health problems caused her to not seek the Mayor’s office but instead find a puppet, like Chuy Garcia.

What makes you think he is her puppet?

What is up with all this strange demonization of Lewis anyway?

Good article. I like her more now.

Bolding mine. As the lawyers say, assumption of facts not in evidence.

Yeah but based on what? Intuition? You’ve offered nothing substantial to back up your invective yet. I’m just trying to figure out where you are getting these strange ideas since they seem to have no relation to the reality of the CPS teacher’s strike.

The name “Karen Lewis” is sure to spark sharp opinions if it’s brought up in political conversation at any Chicago bar. I seriously want to vomit a lung every time I see her face or hear her speak. I haven’t despised a public figure this much since George W Bush.

There’s no doubt in my mind that Lewis is pulling Chuy’s strings.

Yes , just my intuition. I strongly believe Lewis decided to pick a public fight with Rahm and she really didn’t care what the issue was. It could have been school day length, teacher merit pay , or the brand of toilet paper used in the teacher’s lounge.

The strike was a miserable failure but it got Lewis the attention she craved.

That’s nice. “I’m revulsed by this person for no apparent reason, but it’s important to tell the world that I’m revulsed by her, because everyone else should share my revulsion.”

Not exactly a strong argument.

:dubious: By your own admission, every single thing you have to say against Karen Lewis is based on your intuition and nothing else.

You contend or imply that her character is an important factor in deciding who to vote for in this election.

So?

What do you have to say, that might convince a person whose intuition does not tell him what yours tells you that one should not vote for Garcia because Garcia is Lewis’ puppet and that’s bad?

Yeah who needs facts when we have your intuition to go on

I don’t think you have any idea what the strike was about, or even about the actual facts of the strike itself. The teachers wanted to strike. We voted 3 times to authorize the strike. You are talking out of your ass here, and you are actually admitting it too, so its odd that you are insisting on continuing to assert these things, when you clearly have no basis for your opinions. Maybe you should limit your contributions to things you actually have a clue about.

Do you think you’ve convinced anyone here of anything by your contributions to this thread?

And, once again, how were they “masquerading as activists”?

I’m repulsed by her because she’s a grandstanding attention whore. However, I did fear her in a campaign against Rahm. It would have split the city along racial lines and Lewis would play the race card.

She’s wrong about the underperforming schools that needed to be closed. She’s wrong on an elected school board. Charter schools do need to be part of the education system.

Again, IYHO.

Make an argument, friend. Make an argument. Assertions don’t count for anything. So far you’re just making noise.

Cite for anything in this post? Anything at all?

Do you think this thread is just about opinions? We have a forum for that called IMHO. You should check it out, might be more what you’re looking for.

Why is an elected school board wrong? Most school boards are elected, why do you trust the Mayor to appoint people who care most about education? Why would the mayor’s hand picked friends (campaign contributors) be the best to make decisions for CPS? Just because? More of your intuition?

Why do charter schools need to be a part of the education system? Do you have any cite that shows better outcomes from charters? Do you think the profit motive is the best way to ensure a quality education for all of our children? If so, can you explain why? The profit realized from schools should be well educated children. Is this also based on your intuition?

Can you bring even one fact to this discussion?

Wrong.

That would be a good strategy seeing as how Rahm’s actions have been against lower and lower-to-middle class. Getting their voices heard would be good.

Wrong.

Wrong.

Wrong.
