I just replied to the original post in the below thread where the original question was posted but I’m disappointed in the “by the book” answer Cecil gave. “get binoculars first. Go outside the city to observe. you’ll only be able to see the moon”. See my reply for why city astronomy (from a roof in particular) is much better than what the column hints at:
