Huh. I’ve passed by there a lot and never noticed it. And I thought I’d tried all the restaurants along that corridor. (Speaking of which, has anyone been to Tel Aviv Pizza? I can’t recall if that’s the correct name, it was a Kosher pizza place…).
It’s only been there a few months. And no, I’ve never been to Tel Aviv Kosher Pizza - I tend to avoid the hardcore Orthodox places because I get lots of funny looks, as someone who “looks Jewish” but is enough of a brazen hussy to leave the house with head and arms uncovered, and wearing (horror of horrors!) pants. The one exception is Rosenblum’s Bookstore - they are rather more openminded.
And Gaudere, do you have a favorite Croatian place?
Ah, yes. I remember her. In the good ole’ days you could go there at night, although my sister did have a serial killer living in her building. Of course, that could happen anywhere.
I don’t think I was ever there. I had a studio on Columbia Street around 1989-1990, about a block from the lake and near Loyola. One night I was hauling my clothes down to the laundry and I discovered a homeless man had moved into a storage closet in the stairwell. Otherwise, that’s a nice area.

Actually, I haven’t been to one. I pass one on my jogs around the neighborhood (I think on Broadway) and look at the menu but I’ve never gone in. I keep meaning to someday.
