Not long ago I read an automotive safety article posted on one of the big Internet Service Provider’s websites stating that an alarming percentage (>90%?) of children properly restrained in the third row seat of a minivan or SUV suffered serious injury or death when said minivan or SUV was hit from the rear.
I could not believe this could possibly true. I would imagine the NHSTA would have addressed such an alarming problem.
The article indicated that the reason relatively few children seated in third row seating of minivans or SUV’s actually suffer serious injuries or death was the infrequent use of third row seating.
Anyone have any hard data on the safety of children seated in third row SUV/minivan seating?
