She was a real rapist. Her victim was so young you couldn’t understand what happened and apparently needed years to get over the whole thing. I do not know whether she also used violence.

The extraction of payment on the man is grossly unfair in this case.
Its all very well to mention that the child should have rights to an income, but, what about the rights of any future children the man may have with another partner ?
Those other children should not have to live in reduced circumstances because of the fraudulant activity of another person.
On the reasoning shown by other posters, this woman could simply have forged papers from any client of the I.V centre and placed an obligation on the donor without their consent.
If the woman wants payment, her obligation would have to be to cede some custody time to the man, but even that would have to be at his consent.
I guess I don’t get why nobody is pressing charges. She lied, cheated, and stole. If he doesn’t want to be excluded from his daughter’s life, he should:
He did not father the child. He was merely a sperm donor. He should be no more responsible for the welfare of than child than the doctor who delivered her.

And apparently this is why she needed to forge his signature, steal a notary stamp, and lie to NYU.
I could have made the same comment originally, but the points made by oter posters about sperm donnors and women putting their babies for adoption are good ones, IMO.
So, I’m going to espouse the “he shouldn’t have to pay anything” stance.
Ideally, though, she would lose custody to the father and would have to pay child support…Not going to happen but it would be poetic justice.
At the very least, she really should have to pay back every penny the dad gives her in child support once the child is grown.
perhaps I am more cautious than most people.
i would have made a simple follow up call to be certain my contribution was destroyed, but again, maybe that’s just me and not the norm.
however, this still doesn’t explain why he isn’t pressing criminal charges.
Well, they were married for 6 years. Maybe he still has some feelings for her. Maybe he doesn’t want the mother of a infant (that may or may not be his, depending on your point of view) to go to jail.
