Is the $1000 (per child?) child tax credit that’s supposed to be issued in July a refund for 2002 or a credit for our 2003 taxes? If it’s for 2003, will people who are expecting a baby this year be eligible to receive it?

I’m expecting a baby August 1 - do I have a check coming to me and if so, how do I make sure it finds me?

It will be a credit against 2003 taxes.
Your new dependent will make you eligible for it.

You will not receive the $400 in the mail. Credit prepayments are are being sent based on information contained in your 2002 return.
