I did too as soon as I posted it. But it was about my tenth go at a title, forgive me.
You want mellow? I’ve got some Norah Jones, Coldplay, Anna Nalick, Sarah Brightman, Vienna Teng…
Some good music there. You might like the Cowboy Junkies. They’re kind of like a bluegrass version of that music.
Black Box Recorder is the only other obvious one I can think of at the moment.
I’ve got the Trinity Sessions - I adore their versions of Blue Moon and Sweet Jane - is the rest of their stuff as good?
Have you seen Sarah’s finest moment here ?
Sorry, I wish I could tell you but that’s the album I have as well. I’ll try and think of some other recommendations though.
Oh, God, that’s painfully hilarious. I need to go get rid of the stitch in my side now…
Ikarus (Wolfgang Stindl) is very good chill out music, but still good for working/creating and such. He put the videos on Google video himself. Here is his official site. The forums which had the entries about Google video were hacked, but are back up if purged. Ancient Lullaby is one of my favorites, as is Shiva and Touched the Sun. Enjoy!
Bah! Meant to also say, you can hear Ikarus’ music on his MySpace page. He has quite a few styles and moods, he’s a sound recorder. You might recognize his music from the Matrix tribute too. (GThe song was Praying to Different Gods IIRC.)
JAGA JAZZIST.
This is the missing band in the OP’s otherwise excellent list of chill music. You will not be disappointed.
I’m a fan of Karma by Delerium for chill working music. (If you are not familiar with Delerium it is a side-project of the Front Line Assembly industrial pioneers Rhys Fulber and Bill Leeb. There are multiple female vocalists that contributed to the cd.)
I also find that I get in the ‘chill, working mode’ when I play the God Shuffled His Feet album by Crash Test Dummies.

Tangerine Dream - IMHO much better than Kraftwork. Could start with Exit or Thru Metamorphic Rocks albums. Some of there stuff isn’t so good.
Jan Jelinek’s “Loop-Finding-Jazz-Records” and Gram’s self-titled album both fit the OP and are extremely top albums. These are getting harder and harder to come by but gemm is always good for obscure s/h stuff. Otherwise, try any of snd’s three albums - all gold.
Sorry, it’s Gramm, not Gram.
Also, try Fennesz’s “Endless Summer” and “Venice” albums, both highly recommended by me.
Given the tastes you listed, I predict with 100% confidence that you will absolutely LOVE Lost Horizons by Lemon Jelly. It’s my favorite chilled music ever; sort of Orb-ish but much more jolly.
Also check out Groove Armada.
I’m partial to Euphoria’s new album, and Jose Gonzales. I’ve been introduced to a lot of the music listed above by Radio Paradise - there are no commercials and minimal talk - mostly station id.
“'79 AKA The Shouty Track” is one of my favorite songs, ever “The Staunton Lick” is very good as well.
Hmmm. Portishead, Massive Attack, Sigur Ros, Lamb. Chilled= laid back and somewhat synthetic?
How about:
Kenna
Calla
Ladytron
The Faint
The Golden Republic
Pinback
Astaire/Blondfire
Fischerspooner
n. Lannon (particularly “The Catch”)
Not so laid back, but Death From Above 1979 fits this grouping too.
This is great stuff everybody. I hope I’m getting some Amazon vouchers for Christmas!
Definitely - straight through, an awesome album.
Elysian Fields
Zero 7
Susie Suh
Hooverphonic
Mogwai
Nick Drake
The Shins
The Decemberists
Tom McRae
Vienna Teng
Tuck Andress (Mostly Tuck and Patti)
Some of the stuff by the Smashing Pumpkins and Silversun Pickups might be what you are looking for.
