apparently in Asia when a known e-sports player is in an internet cafe it’s common to point them out like they do celebrities at sporting events over here
Well for one guy who is a ranked pro player who was wanted by local police it was very unlucky as he was spotted by an off duty cop and was promptly hauled in although for what wasn’t specified
Off duty cop recognizes someone wanted by the police, altered on-duty cops (ie called the police) who came and arrested him? Is there more to the story or some other reason why it’s worldwide news?

well if the café hadn’t pointed him out as a “Celebrity” league of legends e-sports player the cops wouldn’t have even known he was there than and what are the odds of the two being there at the same time

Assuming the e-sports guy knew he was a suspect, it sounds like he was a bit of an idiot for being out in public.
Especially at a Chinese internet café.
