I stopped eating Chipotle as soon as I found a local place that actually makes good burritos. Chipotle’s burritos don’t taste that good, and I think they make them the size of a small pillow to try and keep people from noticing.
I weep at your wrongness.
Bowl: Brown rice, black beans, barbacoa, corn, tomatoes, sour cream and lettuce. Nom.
I’ve tried Qdoba, didn’t like it. There wasn’t much taste to it.
This. Chipotle is adequate, but I can usually find better options. Super easy in Austin, TX, but even doable in Bellevue, WA and Edmonton, AB.
I probably could eat there 3-4 times a week. Unfortunately I only go once or twice a month. Just too many calories when trying to keep my weight under control.
Sure, if you live in Texas, I could see finding a local spot that’s better, but I’ve only ever found one place I like as much and they eventually went out of business after Chipotle moved in. Compared to just about any other restaurant chain in the area, they’re just way better and I get as much or more food for the same amount of money. Anyway, here’s how you do it: Brown Rice, Chicken, Steak, and everything including guac.
…now I’m hungry, damnit.
I like Chipotle - not in a junkie sort of way, but I’ll find myself there at least once every two weeks or so. I was on a taco kick there for a while, as it allows you to sample three fillings.
Otherwise, I usually get the carnitas (pork) in a burrito or a bowl, with beans (I alternate) cheese, rice, sour cream, salsa and the medium sauce on the side. After reading the posts, I’ll have to splurge one time & try the guac, and get adventurous and do the peppers/onions thing too.
One thing I’ve noticed is that each locale does one filling better than the other - my default stop makes their chicken too spicy, and their steak is the worst of the four choices, but while sampling tacos at another site, the chicken was the clear winner.
It does appear that there are folks standing in line when I go who’ve had an extra dose of the crack at one time and need their fix now on an abnormally frequent basis.
Yeah, sprinkling it with the Jolly Green Giant’s ass-hair takes it from mediocre to truly vile.
Since we are sharing, I get a Fajita Burrito - choice of meat, grilled veggies, corn+hot salsa, lettuce and a little cheese. Almost feels healthy.
Its pretty good. I like the mixture of black beans, corn salsa, lettuce, and sour cream. I never knew that could work together with cheese and rice but apparently it can
Hate Chipotle. Maybe it’s the McDonald’s connection, but it’s probably more to do with me hating rice in burritos, and having grown up with exposure to much, much better Mexican food. Much.
Quoted for truth
Better than what? Surely you don’t mean Chipotle, because Qdoba is more repugnant than an old sweaty sock soaked in skunk vomit. Plus the portions are way too small.
Chipotle carries Tobasco brand’s Chipotle sauce, and for that they will go to heaven.

I’m a Chipotle addict. I go at least once a week, either a steak burrito or burrito bowl depending on how hungry I am and whether I want to save any of it for later.
The funny thing is, I used to hate the place and refused to eat there for years. I think I thought their cheese was too sharp or something (and don’t suggest that I should have just left it off, I eat everything with cheese). Someone finally convinced me to give it another go a couple of years ago and I was instantly smitten. I guess my taste buds just changed or something. I also used to loathe hot dogs for over 20 years and now like them, so something obviously happened.
If the taco makers at Chipotle would stop putting 3/4 of the ingredients in the first taco, and 3/4 of the remaining ingredients in the second taco, and some miniscule amount of what’s left in the spoon in the third taco, I’d probably be willing to go there again.
The last time I was in, I asked the server to put more red salsa on the last two tacos. She filled the spoon, put another 3/4 of it in the first taco, etc. If I’d been able to reach across and twirl the dish, it might have worked out better.
Frank, just get the damn bowl, man! It’s all the ingredients you know and love, without the pesky taco shells getting in the way and dividing things up unnecessarily.
And if it’s the crunch of the shells you crave, order a side of their delicious chips. Or I’ll bet you could order a bowl with a side of shells and scoop up your own tacos. I’ve heard they’ll create anything you want with the ingredients they have on hand (quesadillas, ferinstance, or a nacho platter).
I will say I’m impressed by the OP’s cardiovascular stamina if he’s survived eating that much Chipotle on a regular basis.
You can ask for plain rice, I do when I go there. I’m not sure why it’s not a normal option though. They have to know people don’t like the shit.
