I agree it gets comical, and it’s kind of stupid that the waiting period itself has become an indicator of the relative Hall of Fame-yness of the players. Although it seems to me that nobody cares about how long the guy had to wait after he gets inducted anyway- it’s just talked about a lot before he gets in.
Are you seriously asking me why Carl Yastrzemski was a no-doubt-about-it Hall of Famer?
He’s no doubt a HOF’er, but I just question if he’s a definite 1st ballot.
I now see that he was. I really never thought of him as that great, but maybe it’s because I only caught the end of his career. My bad… He just seemed to be a notch below the others you listed.
