Chlorine as a cleaner

I agree with Cecil that using a chlorine-based cleaner is a trade off, but one I can live with. What he didn’t say, in mentioning amonia-based cleaners is to NEVER NEVER NEVER mix an amonia-based cleaner with a chlorine based cleaner! Mixing these two kinds of chemicals releases deadly gases that don’t make the toilet bowl (or anything else) any cleaner and may well kill the person using them.

This is unfortunately, as rescue squads can confirm, an all-too common occurence with folks, particularly the elderly, who decide to use up the last of two bottles of cleaner rather than opening a new one.
