I’ve seen neither, but what I’ve read about both, they’re both dumb, but at least one (Clash) doesn’t pretend to be anything but in the first place. With no 3rd rail to lean on, that gets my vote.
The Book of Eli has good performances from Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman (and a decent story); I spent most of Clash of the Titans wishing I was watching the original.
I just watched The Book of Eli last night – it wasn’t bad, and Denzel Washington really kept the movie grounded. If you liked playing Fallout 3, this world will seem very familiar to you. (Plus, it’s got Tom Waits in a cameo.)
Clash was by far the worst movie I’ve seen this year. I’ve not seen Book of Eli, but the odds it would be worse than Clash of the Titans are very slim.
I’ve only seen The Book of Eli. I thought the ending sucked, but apart from that it was a pretty good way to spend a couple of hours.
It’s an action movie without a climax. The battle at the cannibals’ house was great, but afterwards I was waiting for the movie to do something even better, not just taper off into oblivion.
As the poll shows, I watched Book of Eli (Clash of the Titans was never in the running). It was pretty good. And I never would have guessed the twist, but the filmmakers did telegraph the “protected by God” thing pretty early when a bullet bounced off of Eli.
