Christiane Amanpour's nationality?

I am home for vacation and my mother is slipping to the right politically. Today, while watching what we call “The Brinkley Show” (as opposed to “The Carson Show”), she asked me about Christiane Amanpour’s citizenship.

The Font of All Knowledge is silent on the subject, although it note she is a Commander of the British Empire.

Has she gained US citizenship along the way?

She’s Iranian. Her family left after the Shah was exiled. I just looked at that Wikipedia page, and I’m quite surprised that he country of origin is not mentioned. I know this for a fact from watching a CNN documentary she hosted a few years ago where she went to visit her extended family in Tehran.

She’s hot, too.

ETA: Can you imagine hearing in her voice: “This is Christiane Amanpour cumming”.

This website is the only one I’ve found that specifically says that she’s a naturalized American citizen:

The question wasn’t about her ethnic origin (which is half Iranian and half English) nor about where she was born.

Thank you.

Her dad is Iranian, but she’s got a British mother and was born in the UK. No idea what passport she holds though.

How long are you here in the U.S., Paul? Do you want to do another Dopefest for you like we did a few years ago at that restaurant in Bethesda?

Oops… totally misread the question.

Thanks WW, I am home for just two more weeks and have been up to my hips with my social life this trip.

Last night I was in a hotel in Gettysburg drinking cherry wine with a lady, playing Scrabble and laughing like loons. This week I am hosting my birthday party plus meeting with doctors and lawyers. I simply have no time on my schedule, but I do deeply appreciate your kind offer.

Is she really Iranian? I ask as I don’t know any Iranians. I know a lot of Persians, and you better not say they’re Iranian.

An Iranian would be someone from (holds citizenship in) Iran. A Persian is someone who is from the majority ethnic group in Iran.

Are you going to say you don’t know any British, because all such people you know are Scottish, English, Welsh, or Irish (or Cornish, or whatever)?
