Grace Slick outlived McVie? ![]()
That’s very ironic.
Jefferson Starship and Fleetwood Mac were a huge part of my high school music Their music was already moving to the Oldies station but I still loved it.
RIP Christine

Boy. We old!
A terrible affliction, to die of Fleetwood Mac.
This was the first song I listened to after I heard the news.
Yah, I keep forgetting how old I am. I was listening to them when I was a kid.
Damn.
Eva Cassidy cover of Songbird made people fans of Eva’s music. That was several years after Eva’s death.
It shows just how well McVie crafted Songbird. The melody is rich and compelling. A good cover of it helped launch anothwr artists career.
Christine wrote it for piano. Eva switched it to a very nice guitar part. I love both versions.
I didn’t even know it was possible to die of Fleetwood Mac.
Same here. I’ve been listening to it all day.
I didn’t even know it was possible to die of Fleetwood Mac.
Yes, the placement of the parenthetical does introduce an unfortunate ambiguity, doesn’t it?
(Missed the edit window) Although perhaps not in the best of taste to draw attention to it.

Now I’m second guessing myself: I didn’t put that in the title, did I? Wasn’t it a mod edit?
Blame WE?
The parenthetical and the date were added by a mod, ostensibly for clarity.
Well I for one one wouldn’t mind dying by Fleetwood Mac. It would feel like a warm, loving embrace by a group that totally understood the human condition.
RIP Christine.
Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac fame passed away yesterday at 79, and we have a thread about that:
I am seeing reports online that Christine McVie (of Fleetwood Mac) has died, at age 79.![]()
Can we have a thread about her music? What are your favorites? Please include links if you are able.
I’ll start with Songbird, a live version:
Come A Little Bit Closer
Come a little bit closer
'Cause I remember the time
When you held me in your arms
And you wanted to be mine
Everything good, everything gold
Why are you just a sweet memory?
I didn’t know which songs (except songbird) that Christine wrote.

There's a reason why Christine McVie was considered the heart of Fleetwood Mac.
