Christmas Emergency

I hope your wife recovers quickly, Abdominal Snowman. I have to admire her quick thinking. I know too many people who wouldn’t have thought to get in a cold bath.

Please give her my best wishes for a speedy recovery and a Merry Christmas to you both.

Sorry to hear this… Best wishes…

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your missus, Abdominal Snowman. I hope that the rest of your holiday is extra joyous to make up for the ick.

Sending warm thoughts your way.

pun intended?

good heavens!!!

i hope she recovers quickly.

Best wishes, certainly, and hoping for a speedy recovery!

Get well soon Mrs. Snowman!

Oooow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow.

Ow.

OOOOOOW.

I hope Mrs. Snowman feels better too. Count me in those who say “keep her on the pain meds!”. Ow.

Oooow.

It would never have occurred to me to make fun of someone’s pain. My sincere apologies Abdominal Snowman if it came across that way.

Sorry Khadaji. Didn’t mean to put you on the spot. I thought it was funny. My mistake.

I hope your doctor has given you plenty of Silvadine cream. Lavish Ms. Snow with it (even when she would rather you leave her alone) I have seen it work miracles , and give her much love.

My sincerest sympathies for Mrs. Abdominal Snowman.

I had a 2nd degree hot oil burn all over my hand and arm once. It really hurts. Pain meds are a must because the pain doesn’t go away for quite some time.

Physical therapy (debreeding) is important to prevent scarring. It’s no fun, but it works. It’s going to be 4-6 weeks before it’s anything near normal again.

The pain meds made me sleep a lot, and I wasn’t good for much for a month, productivity-wise.

Another heartfelt OW!!!

I’m glad she’s all right, and I also applaud her common sense. It’s a nice change from reading about people who don’t have any. I managed to give myself a second-degree scald about an inch in diameter a few years ago, and I figure the pain goes up exponentially. The good news is it did heal without scarring, and I hope the same is true for Abominable Snowman’s good snow lady.

Merry Christmas, and be well, both of you.

What a shame! My mom dumped boiling oil on her foot a couple of years ago – she said it was the most painful injury she’s ever had (and she’s rather clumsy, so she often has an injury of some kind or another). So definately make sure the docs come across with plenty of pain meds!

Ouch! My very best wishes to you both.

My very best wishes for the recovery of Mrs. Snowman. An awful thing to happen at any time, but, Christmas Eve! May she be back in good health as soon as possible!

And, Abdominal Snowman, while it may seem pretty small potatoes compared to what your wife has been through, you’ve also been through a pretty damn stressful experience. Take care of yourself as well.

I had an ambulance ride myself a week or so before Christmas (details here), and I really appreciated all the good wishes of my fellow Dopers. Snowman, you have a whole bunch of good friends you’ve never met.

No, no Ruby. I hadn’t meant an implied condemnation - my apologies to you too. I only wanted to be sure Abdominal Snowman didn’t think I was making fun.

Yikes. I had no idea that fondue could be so dangerous. Best wishes to her for a quick recovery!

Well, after long hiatuses (hiati?) from this board, work, and a general sense of normalcy, Ms. Snowman is (almost) fully recovered, with minimal scarring, and full sensation in her hand and most of her leg (there’s atiny little patch where the oil burned down to the fatty tissues that has no feeling and probably never will). She’s working again, putting up with me full-time, and generally just being her good self.

Heartfelt thanks to everyone I’ve never met (all of you). In the immortal words of “Streetcar,” I just want to say “Steeeeelllllllaaaaaaa!”
I mean, I just want to say that I like to think I can always count on the kindness of strangers. Despite the fact that I am not named Stella. Nor am I a woman.

Oh, and the pun was actually pretty funny. No offense taken.
