Well, that sucks. I’d have liked if he drank a little less during his debates, but he was a sharp guy and I enjoyed hearing his opinions.
I’m sure there will be strong opinions both ways on this.
Extremely intelligent and opinionated. Disagreed with him at times but rooted for him many more times. RIP.

Not a surprise, but a shame. It’s a loss for public intellectual discourse and for lovers of good writing.
I admired his grit. Didn’t matter whether or not I agreed with him, I knew I was getting someone’s honest opinion unflavored by the urge to be popular. I suspect actual independent journalism will soon be gone. We’ve certainly lost one of the few remaining practitioners.

I second almost everything above. It sucks, I liked hearing him, I disagreed with him frequently (especially about Iraq), the world is a poorer place now.

He will be very missed, damn this really sucks. I knew he was going to die from the cancer, but he seemed to be at a bad yet stable condition. Oh well. We, the non-crazy, fact-based world people will forever miss Hitch.
