Christopher Moore? Anyone read his books?

OMG, I cannot say enough about this man. His books are hilarious…if you like Carl Hiassen, try him!

The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove A pothead constable. Town psychiatrist takes all her patients off their anti-depressants w/o their knowledge. Prehistoric lizard named Steve. B-movie actress with a sword. Hilarious.

The Island of the Sequined Love Nun Drunk pilot (whose life parallels Hamlet’s) crashes pink Learjet in a rondevous with a prostitute. Sky Priestess stealing organs from Shark People.

Coyote Blue Golden-eyed Indian running from his murderous past gets visit by Old Man Coyote (the trickster) and his life gets turned upside down. Spiritual in a kind of slapstick way.

Bloodsucking Fiends: A Love Story Serial monagamist woman gets turned into a vampire by a man looking for some entertainment. New boyfriend trys to find out if she really is immortal via drowning, freezing, etc. The worst of what I’ve read of his, but still entertaining.

I’m anxiously awaiting Practical Demonkeeping: A Comedy of Horrors which is described at Amazon.com as …well, it’s copyrighted, so you’ll just have to go there and read the review yourself.

Hoo-ha! This guy is demented! I wanna marry him.

Yay Sue!!

I love Christopher Moore’s books! Every one of them has been great! Hilarious, human, and perfectly done. I think Island Of The Sequined Love Nun is my favorite.

Yep – he’s great.

Last time I visited his website, there was a link to a funny NPR interview.

Coyote Blue’s my favorite – it took me awhile to catch the joke – the guy from the reservation who named his car? “Black Cloud Follows”

Kudos all around.

“Do you bowl?”
“Yes.”
“Whaddya use?”
“I like a twelve pound self-basting. You?”

Practical Demonkeeping was his first, if I recall correctly. Read it a while ago, so I don’t remember all the ins and outs. The part I remember best is the end (maybe cause I read it most recently?), but I can’t exactly talk about that. Suffice to say it involves the same town the Lust Lizard visited, a genie who can literally curse a blue streak, and the unhappy guy associated with him.

I LMAOed at that one, and the “surfing,” holy shit! I jsut can’t believe some of the stuff he comes up with…electroplating the turtles…he’s a genius!

Yes, Practical Demonkeeping is his first. I really like them all (so far), it just seems that (due to availability) I’ve read them in reverse order.

I’ve only read Bloodsucking Fiends, myself. Hilarious stuff…

“How did it…I mean, was it murder?”
“I’m betting creative suicide. She broke her own neck, drained out her blood, then killed the dog and jumped into the dumpster. The ME’s betting murder, though. You pick.”
