It looks like a shaved bull terrier to me. Either that, or the love child of Spuds MacKenzie and SDMB’s faithful mascot Sam.
It’s some sort of canine with severe mange.
It’s almost like a chupacabra, only it blows goats.
Holy crap! That dog looked remarkably like that squealing, hissing pet that Jabba the Hutt kept on a leash (not Carrie Fisher, the little one).
Or possibly it’s a cousin to the pet Targ that the Klingon captain had in ST3 The Search for Spock.

that chupacabras could possibly be exaggerated reports of hideous dogs (the pic of zombi-dog Sam inspired that thought.)
Well, I’d frankly rather encounter a herd of chupacabras in a dark alley than a single Sam.
Much to the surprise and disappointment of all, the alleged chupacabra turned out just to be a hairless coyote. I, for one, am very disappointed; I really thought we had the bastard this time. Oh well. I guess I’ll console myself by investigating the latest Yeti sighting.

I was about to say you could just get the kids some custom-made shirts with pictures of Sam on them and tell them he’s Chupacabra, but the downside is they would never sleep with the lights off again.
