Cigarettes, and Whiskey and Wild, Wild Women

I was shocked and amazed today to see Peter Sellers sing this song on an old rerun of “The Muppet Show”. He did it piano bar style with assorted raggedy looking muppets singing along like drunks. Truely unexpected (and very enjoyable).

Anyone else see something on TV that you just couldn’t believe?

Zette

Zette, if you don’t stop luring people into your threads with deceptive titles, I’m gonna have to spank your bottom, you hear?

Then again, something made me crave whiskey, cigarettes, and wild, wild women…was it subliminal advertising on Captain Kangaroo?

[small hijack] That would be a good title for our World Wide Dopefest in Vegas. Hmmmmmm. [/end small hijack]

Wow, Zette, I wish I’d seen that one! What a great perpetration on impressionable minds everywhere!

Once I saw an episode of the Muppet Show where the guest host was someone British, tall and skinny, so it couldn’t have been Sellers, nor Dudley Moore, but could have been John Cleese, Peter Cook, or someone else. Anyway, in the wrap-up, the host started to give a speech about how great it was that British and Americans got along so well. To underscore this point, he pulled his pants down to reveal boxer shorts made out of the Union Jack, then pulled them up and down again to reveal the Stars and Stripes. Then he was abruptly hustled off stage. I know I didn’t hallucinate this, because I remember my parents being appalled. And when they reran the episode, that moment was excised. Anyone remember that?

Damn,

I always knew Kermit had a little fling on the side. That frog is a player! I knew it all along . . .

I’ll bet that little green bastard gets jiggy with it all the time!
