Cis Women- Do you have an issue with trans women who've not had SRS in the women's room?

Not an issue. Like bobkitty, I’ve been known to do the group thing with transwomen and transvestite friends both. When ya gotta go, ya gotta go.

I’d love to have unisex bathrooms. I think we should move in that direction. I don’t know who separated the bathrooms by gender, or when, or why, but it’s no longer necessary, in my opinion.

Until then, people should be allowed to use the bathroom they feel safest and most comfortable in. Because we aren’t switching to unisex bathrooms tomorrow, and people need to pee today.

I would hate that. Men’s rooms are even grosser than women’s rooms.

That’s a good point. What is up with all the mysterious liquid on the floor and substances smeared on the walls? Please don’t bring this to the unisex bathrooms!

Not public restrooms, trust me.

Cis women?
What’s next? Non-trans?

Of course, I totally didn’t read the OP or even the thread title right - I assumed we were talking about locker rooms/changing rooms/dressing rooms. Because it didn’t occur to me that this would be an issue facing anyone in the restroom (as the poster after me pointed out, and everyone agreed with - “How would I know?”)

But - my awesome answer still stands. Thanks, fan!

No issues here. Another unisex restroom/changing room supporter. They are plentiful in many countries.

Please. There are few things in the world more disgusting then walking into a public restroom and taking a big whiff of old period blood from gaggles of strangers of yore. Oh, and then when some nasty chick leaves blood on the seat, or on the floor, or on the door (!!!). Or her pad or tampon half out of the trashcan.

And that’s not even talking about the piss or shit everywhere that I suppose is an issue for each gender.

Don’t believe me? Use the bathroom at the mall sometime. Report back with your findings.

I do, I work there. But they’re kept pretty clean. I haven’t been in many men’s rooms but the ones I have been in were gross. And I’ve heard men say that men’s rooms are nasty, so I figure it’s probably true.

But yeah, some women do need to try being less disgusting with their periods.

Basically I just avoid public restrooms whenever I can. I don’t even like sharing my own bathroom with people at my house, but luckily I have two so I don’t usually have to.

I’m not sure I quite understand why I would care - what is it that people are worried about happening, if you allow someone who you assume still has a penis into the queue to pee in your bathroom?

I mean, I get that some people still think it’s icky, or whatever. But if you put someone who’s dressed as a woman but looks masculine into a guys bathroom in a bar, I can imagine some horrible things happening to them. I can’t imagine the downside to letting the same person go in the woman’s bathroom, except that some women will apparently give them snotty looks.

Is there something obvious I’m missing? Something that would make the other women in the bathroom actually unsafe, rather than just confronted with an experience that’s unusual to them?

Well, no, since cis means non-trans. It would be redundant to have both terms.

While I don’t doubt your experiences, note that I have had the experience of being in both bathrooms at scores and scores of places. I can report that in more than 100 outings, I have NEVER seen a women’s room which was worse than the men’s at the same place.

Mind you, I’m not comparing on the same day, because that would be weird, but overall…if the places you go to are as bad as you say in the women’s rooms, if you looked in the men’s rooms it would probably turn your hair white.

The only place I have ever seen shit smeared on the walls – and I don’t mean “shit” as a figurative term for “stuff”; I mean fecal matter – was in men’s rooms. Bodily excretions everywhere. I’ve only been in a handful of men’s rooms and have seen shit in places other than the toilet more than once. I’ve been in a jillion women’s rooms and have never seen this even once. Yes, I know my anecdotes aren’t data. Just sayin’. Count me in as not wanting to share a public restroom with men.

Edit: Speaking of anecdotes, I was out a bar with a male friend who said to me “What’s up with the bathrooms here?” Apparently they were dark and cagey and nearly always with waste in the wrong places. I was like, “Our bathroom has a sofa in it and a little robot that dispenses air freshener regularly.”

The worst bathroom I’ve ever been in was college, where there was not only vomit in the sink but one of the toilets seemed to have been turned into a throne to the blood god because the whole stall was covered in dozens of used tampons and pads. Blood smeared everywhere. Chunks drying.

The only time I’ve encountered feces smeared on the walls was in high school in the girl’s bathroom.

I’d say roughly 75% of public toilet seats I encounter have piss all over them.

And down from that, maybe 30% of the toilets remain unflushed with ungodly concoctions in them.

If men’s rooms are worse than that, well, I’m sure the men are very happy to be able to piss standing up. That being said, I don’t think a unisex bathroom will suddenly become a portal to the poop dimension or something, where having both genders in the same place will exponentially increase the amount of excretions taking place. I figure the nastiness will probably be about equal to what we’ve got now.

I’m still down for unisex bathrooms being the norm.

I’ve seen and smelled shit, blood, and vomit smeared, dripped and cascaded all over women’s-only restrooms. I’m completely jaded at this point.

I know the meanig of cis, but I feel it’s unnecessary.
However, it was stupid for me to mention it here.

Worst portal ever.

You didn’t tell him about the caviar and champagne we get?

The local university union building changed almost all the toilets to mixed last year, for this exact reason. They stuck up little signs all over them, explaining that they’d decided that it seemed like a fairer option than trying to decide exactly who was allowed to use each.

They’ve not got any more disgusting since, incidently. I think they kept one ladies only room somewhere, but I’m not sure where.
