Civ 3; the End

I like playing Civilization 3 for the Mac. In fact I am marginally compulsive about it. No more! I have broken my addiction!

That’s right, the new Mac update I just downloaded does not support Classic* and so Civ 3 will not play. Not. At. All.

Damn.
*It’s a Mac thing, you wouldn’t understand.

There’s always Civ IV.

You could always decide to go Windows to retain your beloved Civ 3…

Do not blaspheme the Cult of the Mac!

He doesn’t. The only use I have for a PC is as a game platform

It’s perfectly acceptable for a MAc user to purchase a PC for a specific gaming purpose, if (As in this case) it is necessary as a platform for a game that will not work on your Mac. Providing that is why you buy it, it’s no different from buying a PS3 or a Wii so you can play games that only come on those platforms.

And you can buy a PC for very little money that will run Civ3. It’s worth it to play such a magnificent game.

Give it to your addiction. You know you want it.

I played the hell out of Civ3, but CivIV is a much better game that avoids some horrible gameplay experiences from Civ3. Migrate to CivIV and don’t look back.

But… the drones need you! They look up to you!

Do not, then, blaspheme the Cult of Civ.

chants One more turn! One more turn!

Your salvation, sir.

At least now that he can’t play Civ, he can finally get around to reading “The Unbearable Lightness of Hovercars”.

No, no, no - that’s the Cult of the SMAC, not the Cult of the Mac.

Focus, people. Focus.

There is also FreeCiv.

I used to love Civ3 but there are a lot of annoying things about it. Civ 4 with the expansions is a pretty balanced and fun game.

civ3 was the only bad civ game. It managed to break every single fun aspect of civ2.

Civ4 is a major step up from civ3. Don’t waste any more time not-playing civ4! Go get it immediately, if there is a Mac version!

I have it. Need to find it in the pile.

I loved Civ III, flaws and all. But I’ve been converted - Civ IV is a magnificent game.

I thought Civ III was ok, replayed it recently but I prefer Civ II. I ain’t play Civ IV yet, haven’t got a decent enough computator for it to run.

Civ 4 is even better if you delve into the world of mods - I’ve touted it before and I’ll tout it again: Fall from Heaven and it’s bigger, badder and hugely better but more complex brother Fall from Heaven 2 . Magic, demons, vastly different civilisations, hugely innovative gameplay, religions that actually have an impact on the way the game plays - I could wax lyrical for a long time but I won’t, just try them.
