I will be very, very surprised if he allows an open forum for questions in light of the verdict - frankly, I suspect if he can’t get a guarantee that the Carroll case isn’t mentioned he’ll be trying to find an excuse to back out. CNN has lurched to the right lately but having Trump on with no questions or extreme softball questions on the case will not do them or Trump any favors.
“I am not permitted, being denied, forbidden, in fact, very unfairly in my view, to even discuss the Jean Carroll case, which as you know was tried in a courtroom in a city–terrible, crime-ridden city, where they have much more serious crimes, if this was even a crime in the first place, to be prosecuting, murder, the murder rates are sky-high, it’s a Democratic mayor, black man, in fact, for the first time in years and years there, decades really, the entire city is Democrats, Trump-haters, very unfair, who are prejudiced against me, never really stood a fighting chance, but we should never stop fighting them because we will win, always have won, never lost, always win against the Democrats, who are weak and very, very stupid people, they hate America, and this so-called judge is telling me not to speak up and to speak out, and unfortunately for us all, I won’t, not yet anyway, but when the time is right, I will speak out against Miss E. Jean or whatever her name is, never heard of her, and none of you did either, and i will get my revenge, not for me so much as for all of you who are being ruined by this miserable, sad, very sad money-grubbing woman, which reminds me, please send money to PAYTRUMPMONEY. com.”
Moriarty was the Napoleon of crime. He’s the donald trump of crime.
What does ‘town hall’ mean in this context? I only know it as the place where a local government meets.
I doubt his ego will have trouble handling the fact that he’s a sexual predator. I think he’s proud of being a sexual predator.
From the Wall St. Journal analysis after the verdict:
“…most Republicans—including some who otherwise oppose his third consecutive presidential bid—rallied around him following the April indictment, in a case that some Democrats said was weak. Millions of dollars in campaign donations came in, and Mr. Trump’s campaign is anticipating a similar result after Tuesday’s verdict.”
The WSJ analysis further notes that Trump’s CNN town hall appearance is designed to improve his standing among swing voters, including the suburban women demographic which Biden won handily last time out.
It’s a common interview / debate format where the guests / candidates take questions (which may be prescreened) from members of a studio audience.
American politicians sometimes do real town halls, where they travel to that building you’re describing in their home constituency and meet the people, to report to them about how they’ve been doing off in the capitol. So like your Senator might come to your county once every few years and you can go and raise your hand and say “can we not bomb so many people” and they can tell you that’s a great question.
A CNN “Town Hall” is the television version of that, where everything is fake but you pretend you’re meeting the people to address their questions and concerns.
“The E. Jean Carroll verdict proves that you aren’t safe in America’s failing Democrat-run cities.”
Yeah. It could happen. And it would garner him cash and votes.
After the inevitable parade of appeals, how will the $5M be paid? Certainly the proven sexual abuser will never write a check with his tiny hands. Will a court have to go and take it from his assets or bank account or what? What are the odds that Carroll ever sees a nickel?

I would think her best chance would be to outlive him and get it from his estate.

The NPR article linked by @Moriarty states that:
The CNN town hall will feature Republican and non-committed New Hampshire voters at St. Anselm College. It will be moderated by morning host Kaitlan Collins.
Maybe, just maybe, there will be some tough questions. But I doubt it.
I missed if it has already been shared, but here’s a BBC breakdown of the trial and how it might really hurt him.

He’ll probably get some rich donor/friend/money launderer to pay it, like he did for the Trump University case. Trump has deep pockets but short fingers.

What are the odds that Carroll ever sees a nickel?
Hence my question up-thread: Does Donnie have to post a bond as a condition of his appeal?
So the court can say, “you may appeal but first put up a bond for the judgment?” I didn’t know that was done, thanks for the information.

I knew he was doing a CNN thing. But I didn’t realize it was a town hall. Is he actually going to take questions from citizens? That might be worth a look.
If it still goes on after this verdict, someone will have to take the hit for the team here to report back, but it won’t be me; just seeing his ugly mug, let alone listening to him, makes my skin crawl.

I don’t know if it is done in the federal court system. Some state court systems do require a bond for an appeal.
Hence my question.

I’ll watch just so I can hopefully hear how he responds to questions. I’d espcially like to hear questions on along the lines of “So women can’t be sure if your tiny penis penatrated them, how does this make you feel?”. And “Is having such a tiny penis an advanage when it comes to being accused of rape?”.

Hence my question up-thread: Does Donnie have to post a bond as a condition of his appeal?
If I understand your question, will Trump be required to post a bond as a condition of being granted bail pending appeal, then no. It’s not a criminal case. It’s a civil action.
The only circumstance with which I’m familiar where someone is required to post bond pending an appeal is for a criminal case where they were out on bail up to the time of sentencing. At that point most of the time, the individual is then remanded to custody and pursues their appeal from their prison perch. I’ve only seen bail granted pending an appeal once. (And IMHO it was a bad decision.)
