Trump sued for decades-old rape

Donald Trump is claimed to have raped a 13-year-old girl 20 years ago, in a civil suit filing. I’m largely using quotes & links supplied by David Mikkelson of Snopes.

The plaintiff filed in California, and the case was dismissed for reasons that sound worringly like, “You’re too poor to file a dubious, possibly frivolous, lawsuit”:

A judge recommended on April 29 that “Katie Johnson” should have to pay her own attorneys’ fees and court costs related to the $100 million lawsuit she brought against Trump and billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein over alleged sexual assault charges. Then on May 2, a U.S. District judge ordered the entire lawsuit thrown out.

“Johnson” had previously filed forms asking to be let off the hook for the costs of the lawsuit, claiming she had only $300 to her name … such an allowance — known as in forma paupers — is only given in civil rights cases in California, and the judge ruled that she “failed to state a claim for relief” on a civil rights basis, even though she “utilized the form provided by the Central District of California for civil actions.”

“Even construing the … pleading liberally, Plaintiff has not alleged any race-based or class-based animus against her, and consequently, her … allegations fail to state a claim upon which relief may be granted,” the judge wrote … the address listed on the paperwork leads to an abandoned property, and the phone number goes straight to voicemail.

Plaintiff has refiled in New York. The statute of limitations has passed there, but she’s arguing that he threatened her family and this should be waived.

It should be noted that anyone can file a civil complaint in federal court. The statute of limitations in New York for civil rape cases is five years, but Monday’s complaint argues that the time limit should be waived, noting that the plaintiff was too frightened to report the abuse because Trump had threatened that if she did “her family would be physically harmed if not killed.”
“Both defendants let plaintiff know that each was a very wealthy, powerful man and indicated that they had the power, ability and means to carry out their threats,” the complaint claims.
New York discarded its statute of limitations for criminal sexual assault cases in 2006. A spokesperson for District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. in Manhattan declined to comment on the lawsuit.

Maybe this is just an opportunistic political attack. But it seems like certain parties could help bankroll Ms. Johnson. Isn’t that one perk of deep pockets? And Trump was the major contender for the nomination with the worst polling in hypothetical match-ups. Embarrassing him right out of the nomination would help the party immensely.

This is clearly the break someone has been waiting for. Maybe the Ted Cruz campaign?

Man, if this leads to Cruz’s eleventh-hour nomination, an easy victory over NAFTA McCackle Moneypants, and subsequent Immanentizing of the Eschaton (Ia! Ia!), I’m going to be screaming a lot in between my laughter. We are Circling the Drain indeed.

You want to try that one again, in English this time?

Please, have a little mercy. Not all of us are playing Inside Baseball 24/7.

The OP is hinting that Ted Cruz is paying the woman to file this complaint, in the hopes of derailing Trump’s nomination and getting the nom himself, after which he will easily beat Hillary Clinton, bringing about the return of the Great Old Ones.

No, it doesn’t really make any sense. Don’t stress about it.

3,501.

What’s the statute of limitations on accusations of assault? Unless her follow-up is “…and here’s the sex tape” I think we can safely dismiss this as unverifiable, unfalsifiable bullshit.

  1. According to that article you’re quoting, NY has no statue of limitation on criminal assault charges, but this is civil suit.

  2. If the charges are “unverifiable, unfalsifiable” - that doesn’t mean the charges are false. It just means the charges are unproven. (They may be false, but we have no info either way.)

Something doesn’t add up here.

She can’t afford to pay court costs or lawyers’ fees in California.

So did she go to a public library and research various states’ filing requirements and settle on New York? Did she then hitchhike her way across the USA
pluck her eyebrows and shave her legs where she filed a petition to overturn the statute of limitations?

If, as I suspect, she had legal and logistical assistance in doing all this, why couldn’t whoever is funding her change of venue and lawyers in New York have done the same in California?

And there was not a single lawyer in California who would take the suit on a contingency basis? And nobody who would have contributed to an “embarrass Trump” Kickstarter campaign to raise the filing fees?

For Ted Cruz, it kind of does.

Look, I think Trump is probably guilty. I just started thinking about why this suit is being filed now, and then wondering why the Big Money ™ haven’t helped this woman bring the Donald down.

And maybe they haven’t because the likely replacement would be Cruz.

Yeah, but it would be irresponsible not to speculate outrageously.

It hasn’t even been a week since somebody flat out tried to murder the guy. Given the possibilities of “Trump raped a 13 year old 20 years ago, and the victim and her family refused to strike while the iron was hot” and “At least one person in the United States hates Trump enough to accuse him of a crime which is both abhorrent and leaves no substantial evidence” I’m going to go with the latter.

I really don’t think that the existence of said tape would derail his campaign.

As if getting raped isn’t bad enough . . . but to get raped by Donald Trump,:eek::eek:

It feels a little Paula Jones to me. i.e. its possible something happened. Its possible that what is happening now is politically motivated.

This is rape. Its nothing to joke about.

Let the courts and due process work it out, and may justice prevail.

It reminds me of Juanita Broaddrick, who vamped around until the statute of limitations ran out and then made sure that she wouldn’t have to testify in Ken Starr’s investigation, only to stage a tv special to tell us all that Bill Clinton had raped her twenty years earlier.

You know, if I were going to suggest a conspiracy theory here - I’d suggest that Hillary is paying this woman to sue Donald, in order to preempt any of Donald’s attempts to revive Broaddrick’s charges. Now Bill and Donald both have been accused of raping someone twenty years ago (forty years, now, for Bill of course), only the Donald’s accuser is at least willing to testify about it under oath.

I wouldn’t think it would be Hillary, but yeah. IF I were going to suggest a conspiracy theory, someone is pulling some strings to make sure Trump can’t use Bill’s behavior against Hillary. I’d give equal odds in that conspiracy theory that its on the GOP side - they have a lot of experience in pulling those strings and their best chance at the establishment GOP getting the White House is to see President Hillary Clinton for the next four.

Alleged rape. And who made you the arbiter of what can and cannot be joked about?

At first I thought this was about the accusation he raped his ex-wife Ivana.

The fact that this is the second accusation of rape for Donald is surprising.

Jeez. I’m trying to research the OP, but I ran into a third sexual assault accusation in the process.

Supposedly there is a 4th woman who has accused him of sexual assault, but I can’t find info on her.
