I’m guessing that she does have everything properly licensed because she seems to have good legal counsel.
I thought she testified that she hadn’t gotten a license?
She did. She also confirmed she hadn’t gotten a license in the couple of seconds since Habba asked her the first time. That woman is a regular Perry Mason.
She’s not even a Hamilton Berger (who I always felt a little sorry for) from what I’ve seen.
I’ve always assumed Hamilton was a good DA (he kept the job for years, after all) but that he was Ahab to Perry’s Moby Dick (or Josh Allen to Mason’s Patrick Mahomes) - the one guy he can’t beat.
I’d hope she went to her local city hall the next business day and got that paperwork filled out and paid (along with any fines for having the gun without a license). And maybe handed the gun over to someone that was legal to hold on to it until then.
Adding additional evidence of defamation damages while they happen in real time is one of the weirdest aspects of this trial.
Anyone going up against Perry Mason would be faced with the problem that all his clients happen to always be innocent. He only represented innocent people, after all.
Thanks, clearly I was wrong.
This is a bit unfair. Habba recently learned what “collateral estoppel” is from representing Trump in the NY civil fraud case. It’s where Donald Trump says his collateral is worth $1 billion and the judge tells him to stop making shit up and closes down his business, right?
And white, I believe. Black and innocent may not have worked even for him.
The actor who played Hamilton Berger, William Tasman had an interesting life.
He partied hard and was arrested at least once for lewd activity. He was the first actor to speak out about the dangers of tobacco smoking, filming public service ads as he died of lung cancer.
Please, folks! The name was Hamilton Burger (really). Otherwise, what’s the fun?
/end hijack
Another nitpick: Talman, not Tasman.
I mean, for a quick and dirty layman’s definition…yeah, it’s not that far off.
Sorry. Had about 4 hours of sleep the entire weekend.
a sick juror and habba’s covid exposure has delayed the trial today.
the judge did give them the option to go ahead with 8 jurors, and habba declined that option.
So…what happens if she continues to expose herself to covid (or say she’s been exposed)? Did she just find a loophole to delay the trial for the foreseeable future or is the judge able to force her to have someone else take over to keep things moving along?
Of course they prefer the delay. The judge has the option to continue with 8 (or 7 or even 6). As I understand it, he’s waiting a day for COVID results. (and perhaps to prevent further cross exposure).
This gives me a wonderful idea to reimagine To Kill a Mockingbird with Perry handling the trial instead of Atticus.
I think the way it would be spun by his supporters is that of course Trump is in favor of everyone having all the guns they want without the government batting an eye, he was just complaining about the hypocrisy of the system where the deep state comes down hard on good solid Americans who use their guns to fend off BLM protestors who are walking past their house with rape on their mind, while this certified lunatic who fantasized a story about a romantic encounter with the greatest president the country has ever known, is allowed to get away scot free.
Its this story that proves how wrong our country’s gun laws are.
I will now undergo a ritual brain cleansing to undo the trauma of trying to think like a Trumper.
